The Internet sensation and team India’s superfan Charulata Patel passed away. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday took to twitter to express its grief over the sad demise of Charulata. He said in a tweet: “Team India’s Superfan Charulata Patel ji will always remain in our hearts and her passion for the game will keep motivating us. May her soul rest in peace.”

Charulata Patel was seen cheering for India in the stands during Bangladesh vs India match. While speaking to media at that time, she had said, “India will win the world cup. I pray to Lord Ganesha that India wins. I bless the team always.” 

During the World Cup 2019 at England & Wales, Virat Kohli had promised to arrange tickets to 87-year-old fan Charulata Patel for semi-finals. He kept his promise and provided her the tickets. 

The 87-year-old Charulata Patel was a huge cricket fan. She had said that she was present when Kapil Dev-led Team India lifted the World Cup in 1983. While sharing a picture with Charulata, Virat Kohli had tweeted: “Also would like to thank all our fans for all the love & support & especially Charulata Patel ji. She’s 87 and probably one of the most passionate & dedicated fans I’ve ever seen. Age is just a number, passion takes you leaps & bounds. With her blessings, on to the next one. ???”

As soon as the news of her sad demise surfaced on social media, the neitizens are pouring blessings for her soul. A user said, “Saddened to know this…may her soul rest in peace ? She showed the world yet again, what cricket means to India❤️.” Another user suggested India, that “Is it possible to play with black bands. It will be nice gesture to a super fan.”
