Accident on Kamal Haasan’s ‘Indian 2’ set leaves 3 dead and 9 injured

Indian 2 Accident: Three people died and nine people were injured after a crane collapsed on the set of movie Indian 2, during the shooting of the film near Chennai, on Wednesday night. The injured persons were shifted to a hospital for the treatment. The incident took place at EVP Film City in Poonamallee.

Helmed by S Shankar, Indian 2 features Kamal Haasan in the lead role. It is a sequence of the hit movie ‘Indian’ that also featured Kamal Haasan.

While sharing his condolences, Kamal Haasan took to twitter and said that the accident was horrific. More than his pain, the grief of the family members would be more, he said. Haasan added that “I miss losing three colleagues.”

In another tweet, Kamal Haasan said that he had spoken to the doctors who are looking after the injured people in a hospital. He added that the first aid has been provided and appropriate treatments have been carried out.

The deceased have been identified as Krishna (Assistant Director), Chandran (Art Assistant) and Madhu (Production Assistant).

While sharing condolences, LYCA productions said that “No words could ease what we truly feel. We are extremely saddened with the unfortunate accident happened at the sets of Indian-2 yesterday (February 19, 2020). We have lost three of our most hardworking technicians. Our deepest condolences to their family members, may their soul rest in peace.”

Meanwhile, the crane operator has been booked by the police. An FIR has been registered under three sections of the Indian Penal Code. Also, the crane operator has been absconding.
