Complaint of sedition filed against Navjot Sidhu for hugging Pak army chief

A complaint of sedition was filed in a court in Muzaffarpur against cricketer-turned-politician Navot Singh Sidhu for hugging Pakistan army chief, here on Monday. Sidhu hugged Pakistan army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the oath ceremony of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday. Sidhu also sat next to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir’s President Masood Khan at the ceremony. Meanwhile Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh said on Sunday he was “not in favour” of Sidhu hugging the Pakistan Army chief.

Defending himself, Sidhu, on his return to India, said: “If someone (Bajwa) comes to me and says that we belong to the same culture and we’ll open Kartarpur border on Guru Nanak Dev’s 550th Prakash Parv, what else I could do?” -PTC News
