Congress govt included chapters on Char Sahibzade on insistence of SAD: Sirsa

The Shiromani Akali Dal Spokesman Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa today said that the Congress Government in Punjab led by Capt Amarinder Singh had included  a chapter of history of Char sahibzade of Guru Gobind Singh ji on insistence of Akali Dal only and its action of excluding the history of Sikh Guru Sahib points a finger towards a conspiracy against the sikh community. In a statement issued here today, Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who is also General Secretary of the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC), said that it was only on the insistence of the Shiromani Akali Dal that the Punjab School Education Board has decided to include a chapter for the Senior Secondary classes. He said that the PSEB itself had communicated this decision in a letter written to him on 28th January 2018 in response to a letter written in the month on 26 December 2017 and had said that this chapter will be included from 2018-19 session. He said that not only this it was also informed by PSEB that from 2019-20 this chapter will be included in syllabus of Class Xth also. Mr. Sirsa further informed that this decision of the PSEB had come only after he had informed them that  he had also taken up this matter with NCERT and it has also assured him that a chapter on history of Char Sahibzade will be considered for inclusion in syllabus. He said that he had written to NCERT on 30th Novermber 2017 and got its reply via letter dated 18thDecember 2017 from Maj. Harsh Kumar Secretary NCERT. He said that when the PSEB came to know about the response of the NCERT, it took the decision to include chapter on Char sahibzade in their syllabus. The SAD Spokesman also said that it was most painful to see that the Congress Government of Punjab has decided to exclude chapters on Sikh Guru Sahiban and sikh history from the books of class 12th. He said that if a state like Punjab where sikh community is in majority decided to do so, then what can the community expect from the other states where its members are residing in large number. He urged the Amarinder Singh government to reconsider its decision and immediately order inclusion of all the chapters related with Sikh Gurus and Sikh history and also seek apology from the Sangat on the issue. -PTC News
