‘Congress failed and looted the common man’, A citizen of Punjab writes to Rahul Gandhi

A letter addressed to Rahul Gandhi says, Congress had made promises to control the prices of construction material during state assembly elections-2017, however the CM and his cabinet failed miserably in Punjab. And today, they are looting the common man by using their power, and those who raise a question are threatened with dire consequences. Under the garb of Political Leaders, illegal operation of truck unions, selling construction material at exorbitant rates and looting the common man have become usual practices in Punjab. Explaining the level of corruption in Punjab, it says a 'letter regarding open corruption in the state of Punjab by Political Representatives of Congress Led Govt.' 'During state assembly elections-2017, Congress Party made an assurance to control the prices of these items, if came to power,' the letter said. 'After the formation of Govt, Hon’ble Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues failed to control prices of these basic raw construction materials. But to talk of controlling the prices, rather these have shoot-up by another 40-50%,' it said. Talking about Shree Guru Gobind Singh Refinery at Bathinda, the letter said, 'The project is being currently under taken by HMEL costing Rs 25,000 crore, whereas, Rs 35000 crore has already been spent during its first stage construction. Thus the Punjab Govt is earning lot of revenue from this project. But the pity part is that representatives of Govt including Political leaders and MLA’s are interfering in the affairs of development of refinery project, being executed by various construction companies.' 'No vehicle carrying the construction material cannot enter the Refinery premises, without paying hefty money, hence the situation is so grave that these big-bosses instead of helping the public, are looting the public openly and nobody can raise a question, the letter said. If someone complaints to Distt/State Authorities, they are threatened with dire consequences,' it said. Talking about the gunda raaj and looting public, it said, 'Though, Punjab Govt has put a ban on the operation of truck unions, however, the truck operators are operating still direct under the garb of Political Leaders. The political leaders including MLA’s specifically Sh. Gurpreet Singh Kangar, MLA, Rampura Phul constituency, is looting the public and executing agencies of Bathinda Refinery by way of illegal methods, as he is using his muscles power.' Congress Party has formed its own trading firms and is compelling the construction companies to buy construction material from their firms at the exorbitant rates. The letter ended with a plea that said, 'As such, it is requested to look into the matter at the earliest, otherwise the day is not far off, when Congress Party will be completely wiped out of Punjab state during coming Lok-Sabha Elections, 2019 due to their non-performance.' -PTC News
