West Bengal Congress Committee today tweeted that “When a big tree falls, the ground shakes” has left the Sikhs totally devastated and anguished, said Ms Harsimrat Kaur Badal here today.
The tweet today posted on official twitter handle on the occasion of Mr Rajiv Gandhi’s birth anniversary has literally condoned the “genocide” against the Sikh community. Apparently West Bengal Congress Committee is convinced that Mr. Rajiv Gandhi’s biggest achievement as Prime Minister was the sad killings of innocent Sikhs, the biggest genocide against one religious community after the partition in 1947.
Ms Badal further said that the statement reflects the Anti Sikh and Anti Punjabi sentiments not only of West Bengal Congress Committee but it was a reflection of the entire Congress parties psyche towards the Sikh Community. The Congress high command should have apologized immediately if it was considered “inadvertent lapse” but it quietly withdrew the tweet cowardly.
This is precisely the reason that Sikhs have been denied justice even after three decades and their tormentors enjoyed cabinet births during Congress “Regime”. Shockingly former Chief Minister Mr. Amarinder Singh has failed to take up issues with his party during his tenure to address grievances of the Sikh Community. Instead he was busy giving clean chits to Jagadish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar.
She further stated that the Punjab Congress State President Mr. Amarinder Singh should realize the gross insensitive statement issued by his party in West Bengal. He should immediately condemn the statement unequivocally and clarify his stand on this issue.
