Congress MLA Kulbir Singh Zira questions Punjab CM Amarinder Singh’s Drug Drive at oath ceremony function in Ferozepur
The Captain Amarinder Singh led state government was left red-faced as MLA Zira Kulbir Singh Zira chosen a state-level function of oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected sarpanches and panches on Saturday to flag the issue of drugs vociferousy.
Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal and Ferzozepur (Urban) MLA Parminder Singh Pinky were also part of the oath taking ceremony.
During 2017 assembly elections, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had sworn an oath holding a ‘Gutka’, a small holy book containing hymns of Sikh community to to eradicate menace of drugs from Punjab within four weeks.
Captain Amarinder Singh had claimed to have broken the back of drug trade in the state but Kulbir Zira’s remarks have exposed the state government and its claim.
Addressing a gathering, Congress MLA Kukbir Singh Zira opened a front against his own government alleging that, the supply of narcotics has not changed even in Captain Amarinder Singh government.
Accusing Punjab Police, Kulbir Singh Zira hints out a nexus between the Punjab Police and drug peddlers. He said, Punjab police is playing in hands with drug lords and is trying to save their master’s skin. Kulbir Zira also boycotted the oath-taking ceremony function saying that,” he won’t attend the function as these functions are useless.
“I have spoken the truth after hearing the voice of my conscience. I am ready to face any consequences, if I am punished for speaking the truth. People of my constituency, Zira are with me,” he said
