Chandigarh January 27 – The Shiromani Akali Dal president and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal said here today the Congress party in Punjab "has fled the Khadoor Sahib field out of fear of certain and humiliating defeat." "This is the most categorical admission of defeat by the Congress. Captain Singh is a permanent loser and a habitual quitter . He has been a trail blazer of defeats for his party, becoming the first and the only leader in Punjab to lead the Congress to two back-to-back defeats in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. His latest decision to run away from the field is only a continuation of his record,” said Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal in a statement here this afternoon. The decision was dictated by the pathetic ground reality for the Congress party in the area. Captain Singh saw during his interactive shows recently how shockingly cut off his party was from the masses.” Mr Badal ridiculed Captain Amarinder Singh for advancing sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib as the reason for running from the battle field. " The anti-Sikh Congress Government of Indira Gandhi rolled tanks and mortars into the holy Golden Temple, killed thousands of innocent devotees in the Sacred Parikarma , brought down the holy Sri Akal Takhat Sahib and used to tanks to desecrate and even set fires to sacred Birs of Shri Guru Granth Sahib right in the sanctum sanctorum of Sri Darbar Sahib on the martyrdom day of its compiler, Guru Arjun Dev ji. Now shedding crocodile tears in the name the sacred scripture and using it as a pathetic excuse for covering up its fear of defeat as the real reason for running away from poll is by itself a grave act of sacrilege against the holy scripture , for which the Congress party should apologise to the Khalsa Panth ," said Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal The Deputy CM said that Captain Amaridner SIngh has presiding over the demise of the Congress party in Punjab as Mr Sidharath Shankar Ray had done in West Bengal. After Ray was made the Chief Minister of that state, the Congress party was wiped out completely and never won an election there again. History is repeating itself in Punjab now, " said the SAD president. Mr Badal said that the Congress had realised that it could never win an election in Punjab again. That is the only reason why the the party decided to stick with a permanent loser like Amarinder as their leader ahead of the Vidhan Sabha poll next year.
