Jalandhar reports 16 new COVID-19 cases; Punjab count crosses 550
The total number of coronavirus cases in Jalandhar has increased to 105 after 16 more people tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Friday. On Thursday as well, the district had reported three new cases of coronavirus. The district has recorded 4 deaths so far while just 8 patients have recovered.
Jalandhar has also been declared in a red zone in the revised list of the Central Government. The district has reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the state.
Meanwhile, Ferozepur reported new cases, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases in the district to 17. All new cases belong to a group of people who had returned from Sri Hazur Sahib in Nanded, Maharashtra, recently. These people have been quarantined at the various state quarantine facilities and immediately shifted to the isolation ward of the Civil Hospital after they were tested positive for the epidemic.
The district had no coronavirus case till the driver of Ludhiana ACP Anil Kohli had come here a few days ago and tested positive. He was later discharged after being cured.

On the other side, a woman lodged in Ludhiana jail tested positive for coronavirus on Friday. Likewise, the jail department is likely to test other inmates as well. Mohali also reported 3 new cases on Friday, taking the district tally to 89. All of them have returned from Sri Nanded Sahib. Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus cases in Punjab has crossed 550.
