Coronavirus: 780 more people die as India sets another record of highest daily spike
Coronavirus India Updates: India registered a record single-day spike of 1,31,968 new COVID-19 cases on Friday taking the total tally to 1,30,60,542. On the other hand, the death toll in India has increased to 1,67,642 with 780 new deaths in a day, the highest since October 18, the Union Health Ministry stated.
Meanwhile, the total number of active coronavirus cases in India has increased to 9,79,608, which is 7.5 percent of the total number, according to the data updated at 8 am on the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The recovery rate had also dropped to 91.22 percent, it added.
On February 12, the Active caseload was recorded at its lowest of 1,35,926, comprising 1.25 percent of the total infections.

The total number of recoveries from the contagious disease increased to 1,19,13,292 while the fatality rate has dropped to 1.28 percent.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 25,40,41,584 samples have been tested for the novel coronavirus in the country so far, including 13,64,205 which were tested on Thursday.
Among 780 new deaths, Maharashtra reported 376, Chhattisgarh 94, Punjab 56, Uttar Pradesh 39, Karnataka 36, Gujarat 35, Madhya Pradesh 27, Delhi 24, Tamil Nadu 19, Kerala 18 and Haryana 11.
