Coronavirus: Gurdaspur, Jawaharpur report new cases; Mohali count 56

The total number of coronavirus cases in Punjab has increased to 179 after three fresh of coronavirus reported from Mohali and Gurdaspur districts on Tuesday. Gurdaspur reported its first case of coronavirus. Two more coronavirus cases have been reported from the Mohali district. Meanwhile, the district's tally has risen to 56. A 56-year-old woman from Jawaharpur village in Dera Bassi and a 36-year-old woman from Mundi Kharar tested positive for the pandemic. Both of them have been admitted to the isolation ward of the Gian Sagar Hospital in Banur. The 56-year-old woman, whose family members have also tested positive, had tested positive after re-sampling. The total number of coronavirus cases in Jawaharpur village has increased to 38. Shockingly, none of the 38 patients have a travel history. According to the information, most of them were asymptomatic and coronavirus was detected only after testing. As per the report, some Tablighi Jamaatis had stayed in the village but left before anyone could get information about them. The husband of the deceased coronavirus woman had also tested positive. Dr Manjit Singh, Civil Surgeon, said that teams had been constructed for the villages to take the samples of the women's family members and other contacts. Adding, he said that this would lead to their isolation in time and help in combating the coronavirus. "The containment protocol is being strictly followed in the village," he added.
