With 507 deaths and 18,653 new COVID-19 in last 24 hours, India tally rises to 5.85 lakh

India reported 507 deaths and 18,653 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, as of Wednesday morning. The total number of positive coronavirus cases in India has increased to 5,85,493 including 2,20,114 active cases, 3,47,979 cured and discharged and 17,400 deaths, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare said on Wednesday. It is pertinent to mention that a total of 13,151 COVID-19 patients in India were declared cured and discharged in the last 24 hours. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) stated that the total number of samples tested up to June 30 is 86,26,585 out of which 2,17,931 samples were tested on Tuesday. On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation announcing the extension of PM Gareeb Kalyan Anna Yojana. He had said that "We are entering Unlock 2 and the season of cough, fever, and cold is also about to start. In such a situation, I urge countrymen to take care of themselves.” India reports over 18,000 daily Covid-19 cases for first time "We can see that India is in a better position than many countries in the world when comparing the COVID-19 death rates," PM Modi had said.
