India coronavirus recoveries overtake active cases for the first time

While India is witnessing a daily spike of 9000+ coronavirus cases, the Health Ministry released figures on Wednesday that showed that the country's graph of cured patients is more than the active cases. The number of active coronavirus cases in India stands at 1,33,632 while the number of recovered patients is 1,35,205. Meanwhile, the recovery rate in India stood at about 49 percent. The coronavirus count in India has surged past 2.76 lakh on Wednesday, with over 7,500 deaths. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), over 50 lakh samples have been tested so far while 1.45 lakh samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Punjab is having one of the highest recovery rates in India. As per the report, around 80 percent of patients were recovered from the novel coronavirus in the state. Reportedly, there were 497 active cases in Punjab while 2,167 have been declared cured and discharged. Rajasthan decides to seal its borders for a week due India imposed the nationwide lockdown on March 25 to contain the spread of coronavirus in the country. Though the number of coronavirus cases in India has been doubling every three weeks the coronavirus epidemic is not growing in the country and South Asia region, the World Health Organization (WHO) stated last week. So far, around 7,339,470 cases have been reported across the world out of which 414,060 have died and 3,618,557 cured and discharged. -PTC News
