Chandigarh: Woman with COVID-19 gives birth to healthy baby

A coronavirus patient has given birth to a healthy baby in first such case in Chandigarh on Thursday. According to the information, a woman, who is a resident of Bapu Dham Colony, has given birth to a baby in Sector 16 hospital. The health of both the mother and the baby are said to be stable. Both of them are being kept in the isolation ward. Fortunately, the toddler has tested negative for the pandemic. Meanwhile, five new cases of coronavirus have been reported from Chandigarh taking the total number of cases in the Union territory to 73. Bapu Dham Colony in Sector 26 is the most affected pocket of the city. Two positive cases have been reported from Sector 52. Besides, an 85-year-old woman, a resident of Sector 38, and a 38-year-old male staffer of GMCH-32, a resident of Sector 32 C, were also tested positive for coronavirus. Meanwhile, a total of 30-35 houses have been quarantined by officials after the Sector 38 woman tested positive for COVID-19. All the houses are in the same block the woman lives in. As per the report, she had visited GMSH-16 twice and also came in contact with a milkman and a vegetable vendor. The transmission source is yet to be ascertained. It is followed by Sector 30-B EWS colony with 14 positive cases of coronavirus. Both the areas have been sealed by the local police and are being screened by the health officials. -PTC News
