Coronavirus China Outbreak: Hubei province in China, the epicenter of coronavirus, has recorded 242 deaths and nearly 15,000 fresh confirmed cases in one day, local health officials announced on Thursday. It is the fastest rise in a daily count since coronavirus outbreak was first reported in December. The local Health Commission also said that Hubei province has reported 14,840 new cases, with 13,332 clinically diagnosed cases on Wednesday.
A state-run Xinhua news agency said that the province reported 242 new deaths on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the death toll has risen to 1,310 so far. With fresh new cases, the total confirmed cases in the province have surged to 48,206. It has raised concerns following the faster pace with which coronavirus is spreading in the province.
As per report, the Hubei health commission said that the adjustment in calculation had been made to give those who are clinically diagnosed with standard treatment of confirmed cases.
Meanwhile, China is yet to announce the exact nationwide figures on Thursday. The state-run CGTN TV reported that until Tuesday, the coronavirus has claimed 1,115 lives with 97 new deaths reported mostly in worst-affected Hubei province, while the confirmed cases had jumped to 44,763.
Likewise, the number of confirmed cases abroad has risen to 440 with one death in Philippines so far. Japan witnessed the highest number of cases with a majority of them from a cruise ship in which two Indian crew members were tested positive for the coronavirus. Currently, a team of World Health Organisation (WHO) is in China assisting the local health officials in containing coronavirus.
