Coronavirus positive cases in India jump to 10,363; death toll 339

The total number of coronavirus (COVID 19) cases in India has jumped to 10,363 after 1211 new cases and 31 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, as of Tuesday morning. Out of 10,363, 1035 have been cured and discharged while the death toll has increased to 339, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare was quoted by news agency ANI as saying: "India's total number of Coronavirus positive cases rises to 10,363 (including 8988 active cases, 1035 cured/ discharged/ migrated and 339 deaths)." The rising coronavirus cases had forced several state governments to extend the current 21-day lockdown, which was scheduled to end on Tuesday, by two weeks or more. Nationwide lockdown extended

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced that the lockdown will be extended across India till May 3. Meanwhile, he also listed 7 tasks to fight the global pandemic. In his speech, PM Modi also said that "Till April 20, all districts, localities, states will be closely monitored, as to how strictly they are implementing norms. The states which will not let hotspots increase, they could be allowed to let some important activities resume, but with certain conditions."
