Confirmed coronavirus cases increase to 81
Amid Coronavirus outbreak, the Health Ministry on Friday announced that the total number of confirmed cases in India has jumped to 81. During the Coronavirus (COVID 19) briefing by the Health Ministry, Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary, stated that "Till now, there are 81 confirmed cases in India, out of which 64 are Indians, 16 Italians and 1 Canadian national." Adding, he stated that "Contact tracing of these cases is being actively pursued. So far, this has led to the identification of more than 4000 contacts who have been put under surveillance." "Government has brought 42,296 passengers under community surveillance, out of which 2,559 were symptomatic and 522 hospitalized including 17 foreign nationals," Agarwal said. He added that "124 evacuees from Japan and 112 evacuees from China are being discharged from Friday onwards after having tested negative for coronavirus in the second round of test." "If masks are sold at exorbitant prices then states can take action as per law. If need we will take drastic action on an abnormal increase in the price of masks," he added.
