Coronavirus India: 5 states reporting more Covid deaths cases

Coronavirus India Updates: Amid the second wave of coronavirus in India, the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday said that around 2.4 percent day-on-day growth in COVID-19 cases has been noticed. An increase in deaths has been noticed too, said, Lav Agarwal, Union Health Ministry Jt Secy. He added that Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, and Haryana have reported more death cases. There are some areas of concern, he said, adding that Bengaluru reported around 1.49 lakh cases in the last week. Chennai reported 38,000 cases while some districts have recorded further and speedy COVID-19 cases, these include Kozhikode, Ernakulam, Gurgram, Lav Agarwal said. Adding, the Health Ministry, while giving coronavirus updates about India, stated that the liberalised policy (for vaccination) was started on May 1. Under this, the drive started smoothly in 9 states and 6.71 lakh people in the age group of 18-44 years were administered vaccines. Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh have around 1.5 lakh active cases, he added. Even as he said that the combination of less caution, less immunity in a population from the first wave, and the consequent opening up access to the virus drives the large second wave.
