India reported 28,701 new COVID-19 cases and 500 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, as of Monday morning. The total number of coronavirus cases in India has increased to 8,78,254 including 3,01,609 active cases, 5,53,471 cured and discharged and 23,174 deaths, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Monday.
A total of 18,850 COVID patients in India were declared cured and discharged in the last 24 hours.
Of new deaths, Maharashtra reported 173 while Tamil Nadu reported 68, Delhi 37, Gujarat 13, Karnataka 71, Uttar Pradesh 21, Telangana 8, West Bengal 26, Andhra Pradesh 19, Rajasthan 7 and Haryana 4.
Likewise, Madhya Pradesh reported 9 new deaths, while Bihar reported 12, Odisha 3, Jammu and Kashmir 10, Kerala 2, Punjab 4, Chhattisgarh 2, Jharkhand 7, Uttarakhand 1, Goa 2 and Chandigarh 1.
The coronavirus cases have been rising since the government of India has announced the lockdown relaxations across the country. As per the Aarogya Setu app, the graph of daily cases being reported in India is constantly rising.

Currently, India is the third worst-hit coronavirus nation across the globe while the US is on the top with 3,413,995 cases followed by Brazil at 1,866,176 cases.
