Coronavirus cases in India cross 9 lakh-mark; death toll rises to 23,727

The total number of coronavirus cases in India has crossed 9 lakh-mark with 28,498 new cases and 553 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, as of Tuesday morning. The total positive cases stand at 9,06,752 including 3,11,565 active cases, 5,71,460 cured and discharged and 23,727 deaths, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said. Meanwhile, the Government of India stated that the recovery rate among COVID-19 patients has increased to 63.02 percent. The recoveries/deaths ratio is 96.01 percent:3.99 percent now. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) stated that 1,20,92,503 samples were tested for COVID-19 till July 13 out of which 2,86,247 samples were tested on Monday. Also, keeping in view the rise in COVID-19 cases, R Venkatesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Raichur, Karnataka, stated that the lockdown to remain imposed in Raichur city and Sindhanur taluk of Raichur district from July 15 to July 22 in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. -PTC News
