COVID-19: India reports highest single-day spike of coronavirus cases; tally rises to 10,77,618

India on Sunday reported the highest single-day spike of 38,902 cases and 543 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said. The total number of COVID-19 positive cases has increased to 10,77,618 out of which 3,73,379 are active cases, 6,77,423 have been cured and discharged and 26,816 died due to pandemic. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) stated that 1,37,91,869 samples have been tested for COVID-19 up to July 18, of which 3,58,127 were tested on Saturday. Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state in the country followed by Tamil Nadu and Delhi. Maharashtra has reported a total number of 3,00,937 cases out of which 1,23,678 are active cases 1,65,663 have been cured and recovered while 11,596 have succumbed to the pandemic. Corona virus recovery rate now reaches 63 percent Tamil Nadu is having 1,65,714 cases including 49,455 active cases, 1,13,856 cured and recovered and 2,403 deaths. The national capital is having a total of 1,21,582 cases out of which 16,711 are active cases while 1,01,274 have been cured and discharged and 3,597 died.
