With 62,064 new cases, India's COVID tally crosses 22 lakh mark

Coronavirus India Cases Today: India reported a single-day spike of 62,064 cases and 1,007 deaths in the last 24 hours, as of Monday morning. The total number of coronavirus cases in India has increased to 22,15,075 out of which 6,34,945 are active cases, 15,35,744 have been cured and discharged, while 44,386 COVID patients died due to the pandemic, the Ministry of Health said. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the total number of samples for coronavirus tested up to August 9 is 2,45,83,558 out of which 4,77,023 samples were tested on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare stated that India's coronavirus recoveries cross the 15-lakh mark. It also stated that the infection still remains concentrated in 10 states that contribute more than 80 percent of the new cases. The US is on the top with 5,199,444 cases followed by 3,035,582 cases. India has been reporting more than 60,000 cases for the past few days.
