India reports more than 45,000 coronavirus cases for 6th straight day

Coronavirus Updates Today: India reported a single-day spike of 47,704 coronavirus cases and 654 deaths in the last 24 hours, as of Tuesday morning. Likewise, a total of 35,175 COVID patients in India were declared cured and recovered in the last 24 hours. The total number of COVID-19 positive cases has increased to 14,83,157 out of which 4,96,988 are active cases, 9,52,744 have been cured and discharged while 33,425 have died due to the pandemic, the Ministry of Health and Welfare said on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Government of India said that the recovery rate among COVID-19 patients has increased to 64.23 percent while the recoveries/deaths ratio is 96.6%:3.4% now. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the total number of COVID-19 samples tested up to July 27 is 1,73,34,885 out of which 5,28,082 samples were tested on Monday. Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state and reported 7,924 new cases, taking its tally to 3,83,723, followed by Tamil Nadu at 2,13,723, Delhi at 1,31,219 and Karnataka at 1,01,465.
