India records more than 96,000 new COVID-19 cases for 1st time

Coronavirus India Cases Today: India's COVID-19 case tally has crossed 45 lakh-mark with a highest-ever single-day spike of 96,551 new cases and 1,209 deaths in the last 24 hours, as of Friday morning. The total number of coronavirus cases has increased to 45,62,415 out of which 9,43,480 are active cases, 35,42,664 have been cured and discharged while 76,271 have died due to the pandemic, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 5,40,97,975 samples were tested up to September 10, 2020. Of these, 11,63,542 samples were tested on Thursday. There is a more than a 100 percent increase in patients recovered and discharged in the past 29 days." The notice asked why the trials should not be suspended amid safety concerns. On Thursday, India reported more than 95,000 cases and on Friday it crossed 96,000-mark. Likewise, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday asserted the need to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
