Union Health Ministry of India on Sunday announced that 274 districts across the country have been affected due to Coronavirus (COVID 19) so far. Joint Secretary Lav Aggarwal said that “Total 3577 confirmed coronavirus cases reported in India till now.”
A total of 83 deaths have been reported. 267 persons have been recovered so far. There has been a spike of 505 positive cases in the last 24 hours.
He added that “Our doubling rate (in how many days the number of coronavirus cases gets double) at present is 4.1 days. But if additional cases reported due to the Tablighi Jamaat event, had not taken place, then the doubling rate would have been 7.4 days.”
He also said that “PPEs are imported so there was a shortage initially in the country but govt started taking action in this regard from Jan. Domestic manufacturers have started the production, we have also started procuring PPEs from the countries where it is available.”
“Many organisations have started an effort on their level to support us in enhancing supplies. We have dispatched available material to states in the last 2 days. Production of additional material has started. PPEs available as on Sunday must be utilized rationally. We told this to DMs on today,” he added.
