Coronavirus India: MHA orders extension of containment measures to contain COVID-19

Coronavirus India: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Thursday issued an order regarding the extension of containment measures for COVID-19 till June 30. The Central government has asked the States and Union Territories to go for intensive and local containment measures in districts having a high number of cases to contain the spread of coronavirus. "In exercise of the powers, conferred under Section 10(2XI) of the Disaster Management Act 2005, the undersigned hereby directs that Ministry of Home Affairs' Order of even number dated 29. April 2021, to ensure compliance to the containment measures for COVID-I9, as conveyed vide Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) DO No. Z.28015/85/2021-DM Cell dated 25. April 2021, will remain in force up to 30th June 2021," the order stated. Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla stated that "I would like to highlight that in spite of the declining trend, the number of active cases presently is still very high. It is, therefore, important that containment measures may continue to be implemented strictly." He further said that "Any relaxation by states and UTs may be considered at an appropriate time, in a graded manner, after assessing the local situation, requirements, and resources." Coronavirus India: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued order regarding extension of containment measures for COVID-19 till June 30. As per the guidelines by the Union Home Ministry, the states have been asked to take necessary steps to ensure sufficient oxygen-supported beds, ICU beds, ventilators, ambulances, create of makeshift hospitals, oxygen, as needed, apart from enough quarantine facilities.
