Coronavirus Outbreak: Maharashtra government imposes curfew in the state

In the wake of coronavirus spread, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday announced a curfew in the state. Uddhav Thackeray stated that "Yesterday we sealed the state borders and today we are sealing district borders. We will not allow it to spread to the districts which are unaffected as of now." "Essentials like groceries, milk, bakery, medical, etc will remain open. People need not panic. All religious places will remain closed. Only the priests and clerics alone will be inside and pray," he added. https://twitter.com/ANI/status/1242054597478211586 He said that "Today I am compelled to announce a statewide curfew. People were not listening and we are compelled." Therefore, all the district borders are sealed, no inter-district transportation allowed as Maharashtra government announced a statewide curfew. All the essential services to function and their transportation also allowed but with restrictions. A complete lockdown has been announced in 19 states and union territories. Some parts of 6 states and union territories have been kept under lockdown, the Health Ministry stated. The States/UTs under complete lockdown are Chandigarh, Delhi, Goa, Jammu and Kashmir, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Ladakh, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Tripura, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh.

What about Delhi?

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday stated that "I appeal to people to adhere to the norms of the lockdown in Delhi which has been imposed to contain Coronavirus Pandemic. We will tighten the restriction on public movement from tomorrow. I request people to stay home." https://twitter.com/ANI/status/1242055943086465024 He added that "I have been informed that many employees of hospitals, Delhi Jal Board, Electricity Board&other essential services department faced difficulty in reaching offices due to less number of DTC buses. Haryana Lockdown

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday said that "Yesterday seven districts in the state were locked down where positive cases were found. Today we have decided to lock down the other 15 districts from tomorrow morning." -PTC News
