In a major incident, a 34-year-old man with coronavirus positive report in his pocket flew from Delhi to Kolkata via Guwahati. The man has been identified as the resident of North 24 Parganas who took a flight on July 14 to reach his home.
While the flight operations between Delhi to Kolkata have been suspended, the man took a connecting flight from Guwahati and reached Kolkata Airport at around 5 PM.
Soon after he reached Kolkata, he asked the officials at the airport to admit him to a quarantine centre. Upon checking at the Kolkata airport, the authority did not find any coronavirus related symptoms in him while his body temperature was normal. Therefore, the authorities refused to admit him to a COVID quarantine centre.
However, the passenger refused to leave the premises and claimed that he had a cough. Still, the authorities were not convinced. Then, the man took out his coronavirus report from his pocket and said "See, this is my COVID-19 result report."
He was then handed over to the state health department and later sent to a COVID-19 facility. Soon after the incident was reported, two passengers of two aircraft in which he had flown are being contact traced by the airlines.
