Coronavirus: Mohali DC announces fresh restriction on gathering in marriages and funerals
Coronavirus Punjab: In the wake of a rapid surge in coronavirus cases in Mohali, the DC SAS Nagar, Girish Dayalan, on Friday announced new restrictions on gathering in marriages and funerals in the district. On Thursday, Punjab recorded the highest-ever single-day spike of coronavirus cases. Punjab reported 4,333 new cases of coronavirus out of which Mohali reported the highest number of cases. Mohali recorded 860 new cases on Thursday. Also Read | Chandigarh administration imposes weekend curfew On Thursday, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had held a Covid review meeting to take stock of the current situation of pandemic in the state. While people were expecting weekend lockdown in the state, no such decision was taken during the meeting. Punjab CM had only ordered the strict enforcement of Covid appropriate protocols to prevent any super spread events. The Chief Minister had said that the restrictions currently in place were showing results, and the same need to be implemented strictly, particularly in Mohali and other big cities showing high rates of transmission and positivity.
