Mohali reports 16 new cases of coronavirus; tally rises to 472

The total number of coronavirus cases in Mohali has increased to 472 after 16 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported on Thursday. Meanwhile, the death toll in the district stands at 9. A total of 7 coronavirus cases were recovered and discharged. Earlier, 8 COVID patients were discharged from a hospital. The active cases now stand at 160 in Mohali. The coronavirus cases have been rising in the district ever since the Unlock 1 was announced. Meanwhile, the District Magistrate has revised the orders issued under Section 144 to contain the spread of coronavirus. The District Magistrate Girish Dayalan said that the social gatherings would be strictly restricted to 5 persons and the gatherings at marriages and other social functions should be restricted to 30 (instead of 50) and that of the funerals to 20. In case of any violation, the management of marriage palaces/hotels would be held guilty as well and their licences should be suspended forthwith.
