Punjab: Jalandhar reports 44 new cases of coronavirus including police officials

Jalandhar on Monday reported 44 new cases of coronavirus talking the district tally to 565. According to the information, the 44 new cases include police officials and those who have returned from outside the state. The total number of coronavirus cases in Punjab has already crossed 4000-mark. On Sunday, Jalandhar reported just 9 new cases. The number of coronavirus cases in the state has been increasing without fail. In the meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has repeatedly said that the coronavirus pandemic could continue beyond September. He had recently said that living with coronavirus was the new normal since the lockdown could not continue indefinitely as the cycle of the economy, once broken, takes a long time to restart. With 87,000 cars having entered Punjab from Delhi alone in recent days, and the spike in cases in the past only due to outsiders, the threat of the pandemic spiraling further was acute, said the Chief Minister in his Facebook live #AskCaptain. In fact, those leaving Punjab should also carry similar certificates to check the spread of the coronavirus into other states, he had said.
