Amid spike in COVID-19 cases, PM Modi urges people to wear face mask, maintain social distance

While India reported a record spike in coronavirus cases in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday urged people to wear face masks and maintain social distance to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. India reported the highest single-day spike of 95,735 new COVID-19 cases and 1,172 deaths in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus cases has increased to 44,65,864 out of which 9,19,018 are active cases, 34,71,784 are cured, and discharged while 75,062 have died due to the pandemic. In the meantime, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that India is well-planned for a fight against the pandemic under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Even, he asked people to take necessary precautions until a vaccine is found.
