PM Modi interacts with CMs on COVID-19 situation, discusses lockdown exit strategy
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that the impact of coronavirus will remain visible in the coming months and masks will be part of life while asserting that the country needs to give importance to the economy as well as to continue the fight against coronavirus.
During the meeting with CMs, Prime Minister emphasized the importance of usage of technology as much as possible and also to utilize time to embrace reform measures. PM Modi also sheds light on the significance of ensuring that more people download the AarogyaSetu app to bolster the efforts of the country in the battle against coronavirus. Meanwhile, the PM highlighted the importance for states to enforce guidelines strictly in the hotspots i.e. the red zone areas.
He stated that the efforts of the states should be directed towards converting the red zones into orange and thereafter to green zones. PM Modi underlined that the Lockdown has yielded positive results as the country has managed to save thousands of lives in the past months. He added that India’s population is comparable to that of the combined population of several countries. The situation in many countries, including India, was almost similar at the start of March, he said. However, due to timely measures, India has been able to protect many people, he added.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya stated that it would continue the shutdown post-May 3 with relaxations in 'Green Zones' or non-COVID-affected districts. Odisha Health Minister Naba Das who was present along with Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik at PM’s video conference meeting stated that "I've demanded that lockdown should continue otherwise we can't face these things in Odisha. Let it be one month more, then, we will see what is going on."

Puducherry CM Velu Narayanasamy after the meeting said that "Most of the CMs said the way in which cases are increasing, there should be a cautious approach and PM should take a call on basis of observation of CMs. Most of the BJP-ruled states' CMs said that lockdown should be continued and economic activities should start slowly."
