Punjab tally rises to 211 after Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala report fresh cases; death count 14

The total number of coronavirus (COVID 19) cases in Punjab has increased to 211 after Patiala, Ferozepur, Ludhiana and Jalandhar reported fresh cases by Friday evening. According to the media bulletin issued by the Punjab Health Department, Patiala reported five new cases, while Ferozepur reported its first case of COVID 19. Likewise, Ludhiana and Jalandhar reported 4 cases each.

In Ludhiana, three of the four cases reported by Friday evening are the contact of corona positive while one is the new case. publive-image In Jalandhar, a one-year-old child and an 8-year-old girl among the four tested positive for the coronavirus. Three of them are the resident of Raja Garden while one of them belongs to Old Sabzi Mandi in Jalandhar.

publive-image Punjab reported its 14th death after a 58-year-old Kanungo in Revenue Department who tested positive for coronavirus in Ludhiana died on Friday. Punjab Chief Secretary had tweeted that "The Ludhiana Kanungo was never called for any duty after March 22. He was in his home. His father, mother, son and daughter are living with him. His mother-in-law has also been in his home for some days." His four relatives have been admitted to the Civil Hospital in Ludhiana, as a precautionary measure, even though they were not showing any symptoms.
