Punjab Coronavirus cases rise to 257; recovered patients 53

The total number of coronavirus (COVID 19) cases in Punjab has increased to 257 after Kapurthala reported a new case while Jalandhar reported five new positive cases of coronavirus, as per the media bulletin issued by the State Health Department on Wednesday evening. Mohali remains the worst-hit district with 62 coronavirus cases followed by Jalandhar at 53 and Patiala at 31. Pathankot has so far reported 24 cases. Ludhiana has witnessed 16 coronavirus cases while Amritsar and Mansa reported 11 cases each. A total of three people were cured and discharged in the last 24 hours taking the count of recovered cases to 53. A 16-year-old, the last coronavirus patient in Nawanshahr, defeated coronavirus and got discharged.

Punjab hotspot Nawanshahr now coronavirus-free

Nawanshahr was the first district in Punjab to report a coronavirus death. A man identified as Baldev Singh died due to coronavirus. Other than him, a total of 18 people were diagnosed with the pandemic in the district. Meanwhile, all of them have been cured in what was initially regarded as a coronavirus hotspot/containment zone. Coronavirus in India

The total number of coronavirus cases in India has climbed to 20,471 after 1486 new positive cases were reported in the last 24 hours, as of Wednesday evening Out of 20,471 cases, 3959 patients have been cured and discharged while the death toll has reached 652, according to the Health Ministry. -PTC News
