Coronavirus: Punjab CM orders complete lockdown in the state

Amid coronavirus spread in Punjab, the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh ordered a complete lockdown in the state till March 31. Punjab has reported 13 confirmed cases of coronavirus so far. These include six family members who were in contact with Baldev Singh, who died in Nawanshahr. Meanwhile, Mohali witnessed four cases while Amritsar reported another positive case of coronavirus. A Hoshiarpur-resident was tested positive in Amritsar, earlier this month.

5th death due to coronavirus in India

India confirmed 5th death due to coronavirus on Sunday. A 63-year-old COVID19 patient succumbed to illness last night. The patient who tested positive for Coronavirus had a chronic history of diabetes, high blood pressure, and ischemic heart disease.

Total cases in Chandigarh rise to 6

The Department of Public Relations, Chandigarh on Sunday was quoted by news agency ANI as saying, "One person, a secondary contact of Chandigarh's first positive case Fiza, has tested positive for COVID 19." Strict enforcement of home quarantine in Punjab

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister stated that after a meeting with DCs, SSPs & CMOs he asked them to ensure strict enforcement of home quarantine and other restrictions imposed by the state government. All the gatherings above 20 have been suspended in Punjab. Also, he appealed to all to abide by safeguards and do it for the elderly who need the most protection from. -PTC News
