Coronavirus Update: India has achieved several milestones in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The active coronavirus cases in India have fallen under the 5 lakh-mark for the first time after almost 106 days, the Health Ministry stated.

On Wednesday, the total number of active coronavirus cases in India was pegged at 4,94,657 while on July 28, it was 4,96,988. Meanwhile, the active caseload stands at 5.73 percent of the total positive cases in India.

With this, India indicates a sustained trend of declining active cases in the country.

44,281 new cases were in the last 24 hours while 50,326 patients have recovered in this period, the Health Ministry said giving a coronavirus update. This is the 39th day of daily recoveries exceeding the daily new cases.

The total number of recoveries has crossed the 80 lakh mark taking the number of total recoveries to 80,13,783. The gap between recovered cases and active cases has widened 75,19,126 while the recovery rate has increased to 92.79 percent.
