Couple in 80s looted at knife point in Sector 18 Chandigarh

An octogenarian couple was looted at knifepoint inside their house in Sector 18 by three youth. They took away 3 gold bangles, 1 gold chain and Rs 700 in cash. The family claimed that the fourth one was standing outside. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Panchkula, Manbir Singh, and ACP Mukesh Malhotra reached the spot and investigation. The incident took place around 6:30 pm. Hemraj Gupta, 83, and Chanchal Gupta, 81, live alone. Their two sons are settled abroad. Hemraj, who had retired from the Public Works Department of Punjab, was watching TV, while Chanchal was in the bedroom. One of the youths held Hemraj from the neck and other pushed him on the ground. The third youth went in the bedroom. His legs were tied and his face was covered with the shawl he was wearing so that he couldn’t shout. The neighbours gathered at his house and said that it was a scary incident and they had never witnessed it earlier. The police have registered a case for trespassing and loot.
