Covid-19: Punjab reports 340 new cases in 24 hours

Punjab Covid Update: Punjab reported 340 fresh Covid cases in the last 24 hours, as per the data released by the state government on Monday. With the newly reported infections, the infection count in the state reached 7,55,561, according to a medical bulletin. Punjab witnessed six Covid deaths on Sunday, taking the death toll in the state to 17596. Covid related fatalities were witnessed in Hoshiarpur, Tarn Taran, Ludhiana and Bathinda. The daily Covid positivity rate in Punjab was recorded at 1.27%, as per the update. Among the fresh cases, Mohali reported 51 infections, Ludhiana logged 35, Jalandhar saw 34 and Amritsar recorded 27 Covid positive cases, the bulletin read. The active caseload of Covid in the state also dipped to 3,966 on Sunday, according to the update. Punjab reports 14 Covid deaths According to the government's update, 252 patients are on oxygen support and 26 critical patients are on ventilator support.  During the day, 2,23,357 people were vaccinated in Punjab, with 1,27,581 receiving the first dosage and 95,776 getting the second. Meanwhile, 42 Covid cases were reported in the Union Territory of Chandigarh on Sunday, bringing the total number of cases to 91,338. Punjab sees sharp dip in Covid deaths The city's death toll has now reached 1,152, with one more death reported in the last 24 hours. Furthermore, neighbouring Haryana and Himachal Pradesh reported 838 and 163 new Covid cases respectively. Haryana witnessed seven deaths and 1,146 recoveries on Sunday, while Himachal Pradesh reported three Covid-19 deaths.
