Sukhbir Singh Badal appeals to Punjabis to go in for COVID-19 vaccination
COVID-19 situation in Punjab: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal on Sunday appealed to Punjabis to go in for vaccination against Covid-19 even as he asked the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to review the worsening Covid-19 situation in Punjab directly with Deputy Commissioners to ensure remedial measures were taken immediately.
Sukhbir Singh Badal also appealed to needy patients to avail the Plasma Bank facility initiated by the Youth Akali Dal (YAD).

The SAD President said during his earlier tours of the State and interaction with people he had realised there was an extreme reluctance on the part of the general populace to get vaccinated.
Appealing to go for COVID-19 vaccination, the SAD President said “vaccination is the only way to tackle this pandemic”. He said even former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had got himself vaccinated at the age of 94 years.

He said the Punjab government had delayed placing orders for vaccines and should take the required action to ensure the availability of vaccines.
Sukhbir Badal said there was a growing feeling in the State that the people had been left to their fate and that the government existed in name only.
“The chief minister must correct this impression immediately. Things have deteriorated to such an extent because all responsibilities of the chief minister have been sublet to officers. He must take charge of the situation and review the situation in the worst-hit districts on a daily basis himself. Captain Amarinder Singh should also hold regular meetings with the team which has been given the responsibility of combatting the pandemic”.
Sukhbir Badal also asked the chief minister to take immediate action to ensure life-saving drugs were not black marketed in the State and people did not suffer for want of Oxygen and shortage of hospital beds.
