The World Health Organization (WHO) regional office for the Western Pacific has called for more vigilance amid the planning on the roll-out of coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine. It stated that the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine is not a “silver bullet” that will end the nearly year-long pandemic. WHO Regional Director for the Western Pacific Takeshi Kasai, during a virtual media briefing, said, “Whoever you are, wherever you live, we all remain at risk, and we must keep preparing for the worst-case scenario.” The WHO regional office for the Western Pacific called for vigilance amid the planning on the roll-out of coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine. Takeshi Kasai appealed to the people aged under 40 to avoid infection for themselves and everybody around them despite the anxiety brought about by the pandemic. Kasai further said that one can directly contribute to protecting the lives of people by following the COVID norms. Also, Takeshi urged people to think about those who may be at high risk. If an individual catches the virus, one could unknowingly pass it on to their parents, grandparents, neighbour and friend, Kasai added.
