Crime Branch issues notice to farmer leaders; asks them to appear before it
While farmers have called for chakka jam in India on February 6, the Crime Branch has issued notice to farmer leaders asking them to appear before it on Saturday. According to the information, over 40 farmer leaders have been asked to appear before Crime Branch. The notices have been handed over to the farmers while no decision has been taken by the farm bodies on whether they will appear before it or not. It is pertinent to mention that there has been a complete deadlock between the farmers and the Centre as 11 rounds of meetings remained inconclusive. Thus, the government asked farmers to reconsider the proposal. Since then, there has been no update on the next round of meeting as the Centre has thrown the ball in the farmers' court. On the other hand, the Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, in Rajya Sabha on Saturday, said that the Government promulgated ordinances that were subsequently enacted into farm laws in 2020. "Draft of ordinance was circulated to various Ministries/Depts for comments. States were consulted via video conferencing on May 21, 2020, attended by officials of 13 States/UTs." -PTC News
