Cyclone 'Tauktae' very likely to reach Gujarat coast in evening and cross during night

According to the India Meteorological Department, cyclone 'Tauktae' is very likely to move north-north-westwards and reach Gujarat coast in the evening hours and cross Gujarat coast between Porbandar and Mahuva (Bhavnagar district) during the night on Monday. Cyclone Tauktae is very likely to cross the Gujarat coast with a maximum sustained wind speed of 155-165 kmph gusting to 185 kmph. The IMD stated that a very severe cyclonic storm that emerged on Sunday over the east-central Arabian Sea moved north-north-westwards and intensified into an extremely severe cyclonic storm in the early morning on Monday. While issuing warnings regarding the rainfall, it stated that light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy falls and extremely heavy falls at isolated places on May 17 and isolated heavy rainfall over north Konkan on May 18 in Konkan and adjoining Madhya Maharashtra. Cyclone 'Tauktae' is very likely to move north-north-westwards and reach Gujarat coast in evening hours and cross Gujarat coast during night. Likewise, light to moderate rainfall is likely at most places in Gujarat with heavy to very heavy falls at a few places and extremely heavy falls at isolated places very likely over Saurashtra, Diu and adjoining Gujarat region on May 17 and heavy to very heavy falls at a few places over Gujarat region and heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places over Saurashtra on May 18. Similarly, light to moderate rainfall is likely at many places in Rajasthan with heavy to very heavy falls and extremely heavy falls at isolated places very likely over south Rajasthan on May 18 and heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places over Rajasthan on May 19.
