Day after Diwali, air pollution reaches 'dangerous' level in Delhi The Pollution index maxed out on Thursday morning despite Supreme Court’s efforts for a pollution-free Diwali. The air quality of Delhi hit ‘Dangerous’ level. The ban by the apex court did not prevent people from bursting crackers on Diwali. Also Read: Delhi's air quality remaind 'poor' for 4th consecutive day even as wind speed improved It led to the thick haze in Delhi and the air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 999 on Thursday morning. The AQI around Major Dhyan Chand National stadium touched the maximum level for monitors, i.e. 999. The national capital has not adhered to the 2-hour window deadline that Supreme Court ordered.  Everyone continued polluting air till late. Around 11 pm, the overall AQI was recorded at 302, that comes in the category of ‘very poor’. According to media sources, the air quality began deteriorating from 7 pm on Diwali evening.
