Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visits Jammu and Kashmir for security review The Defence Minister of India, Nirmala Sitharaman visited the Chinar Corps on Monday to review the overall security situation prevailing in the valley. The Nirmala Sitharaman accompanied by COAS General Bipin Rawat was received by Lt. Gen Ranbir Singh, Northern Army Commander and Lt Gen AK Bhatt, Chinar Corps Commander. She was briefed about the security and administrative arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra on ground. The Defence Minister was subsequently given an update by the Chinar Corp Commander in Badami Bagh Cantonment on the latest security scenario on the Kashmir Valley including details of Counter Infiltration and Counter Terrorist Operations undertaken in the past. She appreciated the effectiveness of the intelligence and operational grids and commended the commanders and troops for the excellent operational successes, which has contributed significantly towards improving the security environment in Kashmir Valley. Later in the evening, she also interacted with the Hon'ble Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, NN Vohra at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar and discussed the overall security situation in the valley. -PTC News
