Delhi government urges ‘people to go out only if necessary’

Delhi COVID-19: Day after Delhi recorded the highest-ever single-day spike of 13,468 coronavirus cases, the State Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Wednesday asked people to move out of their homes only if it is necessary. Underlining that there was no slowdown in coronavirus cases in Delhi, Satyendar Jain said that the number of COVID-19 cases has been rising rapidly. Jain also claimed that there was no shortage of ventilators. He said that “We have 13,000 beds. There was no shortage of ventilators and that the patients from Delhi and other states were being admitted.” He also informed that the Centre has provided 1,100 beds while talks were on to add more. Delhi COVID-19: Satyendar Jain asked people to move out of their homes only if it is necessary amid spike in coroanavirus cases in Delhi. Out of 5,525 COVID care centres, only 286 were occupied, Jain said, adding that there were plans to include banquets and hotels as COVID centres. Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has already cautioned that the exam centres could become hotspots. Hence, he urged the Centre to cancel the board exams 2021.
