Delhi govt extends loans to only two students; but spent Rs 19 cr on advertising scheme!
Mohali, August 12: The AAP government in Delhi has courted controversy once again. An RTI has revealed that the AAP-led Delhi Government spent Rs 19 crore on advertisements for ‘Delhi Higher Education and Skill Development Guarantee Scheme’, but it extended loans to only two students under the scheme in 2021-2022. This information has been obtained by 'Newslaundry' through the Right to Information (RTI).
The RTI revealed that the Aam Aadmi Party had launched a scheme to give Rs 10 lakh loan to students in Delhi. In 2021-22, 89 students applied for the loan, but the facility was extended to only two students. However, an amount of Rs 19.30 crore was spent during 2021-22 to promote the scheme.
Even if the campaign money was distributed among all 89 applicants, each student would have received ₹21.65 lakh.
