Delhi: Gunmen open fire at police near Akshardham temple, escape

Exchange of fire took place between Delhi Police and four unidentified assailants near the capital’s Akshardham Temple on Sunday. The four unidentified assailants, who were in a white car, fired at the police team after being asked to stop. They managed to escape even though the police fired in response and gave chase. Sources said the assailants escaped to Geeta Colony, where a search operation has been launched. No one was injured in the cross-fire. https://twitter.com/i/status/1175994892163530753 According to the police, a team from Mandawali police station set up a trap to nab the gang duping and robbing people near Akshardham Metro station. They lured people by offering them a ride to Shahdara. After repeated complaints, police had been tracking them for the past few days, DCP (East) said, adding that they were tipped off about their presence near Akshardham Metro station at a specific time. Finding themselves surrounded, one of the accused opened fire and sped towards Geeta colony flyover, police said. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). -PTC News
