Delhi HC directs attempt to murder accused to do community service at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib

Delhi High Court directed a 21-year-old, accused of attempt to murder, to do community service at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib the national capital for a month. As per the report, a case was filed against the accused under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Justice Subramonium Prasad had quashed the FIR lodged against the accused who has been identified as Mohd Umair. He noted that the accused was a 21-year-old and his entire life was ahead of him. Likewise, the Justice directed the accused to do community service at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib from March 16 to April 16, 2021.

After the completion of service, the accused will have to file a certificate from Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in the Delhi High Court to show compliance with the order. The Court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the accused and further warned him not to indulge in such activities in the future. The order stated that the youth must learn to control his anger and keep in mind that he cannot take law and order in his hands. Delhi High Court directed a 21-year-old, accused of attempt to murder, to do community service at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib for a month. Reportedly, both the parties are living in the same area and there was no criminal history against the petitioner. Also, he did not absconded. Meanwhile, a perusal of the charge-sheet would show that the accused, during interrogation, stated that when he was arguing with his mother, the complainant slapped him and he felt insulted, and thus, in anger, he took a knife and stabbed the complainant, Justice Prasad said in the order. The accused expressed regret before the Court while the complainant also stated that the life of the youngster would get spoiled if the proceedings go further, he added.
