Delhi HC directs Nirbhaya convicts to exhaust all legal remedies within 7 days

Delhi High Court on Wednesday stated that all the four convicts in Nirbhaya Rape case – Pawan, Vinay, Mukesh and Akshay – have to be executed together, not separately and that they should exhaust all legal remedies within seven days. Also, the court dismissed the Centre's plea against the trial court’s order staying the execution of convicts that was scheduled for February 1. Asha Devi, mother of Nirbhaya victim, said that "I welcome Delhi High Court's verdict. It also gives all the four convicts one week, to resort to all legal remedies available to them. After this, the convicts should be hanged soon." Delhi High Court also observed that Delhi prison rules do not state that if mercy petition of one convict is pending, then the execution of the other convicts can take place. Justice Suresh Kumar Kait has asked the convicts to exhaust their legal remedies within seven days, after which the authorities can act as per law. Nirbhaya, 23-year-old student, was raped and assaulted on the intervening night of December 16-17, 2012, inside a moving bus in the national capital by six persons, before being thrown out on the road. https://www.ptcnews.tv/chandigarh-newlyborn-girl-found-dead-in-a-gutter-girl-dead-in-garbage-en/ Nirbhaya died on December 29, 2012, in Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
